Minnesota Wild games make for popular
outings. The regular season runs from
October to April at Xcel Energy Center in
St. Paul; the team regularly makes it to
the Stanley Cup playo;s.
Partially owned by Bill Murray, the St.
Paul Saints have built a jovial atmosphere
that’s hard to top. Playing at CHS Field in
St. Paul’s hip Lowertown neighborhood,
these minor league games are major fun
for the whole family. Tickets start at $5,
and game days o;en include fireworks
shows, between-inning antics and a cast
of entertaining characters.
Now’s the time to become a superfan
of the Minnesota United FC soccer
team, who will make their debut at
the new Allianz Field in St. Paul this
season. Also known as the Loons,
Minnesota’s Major League Soccer team
has developed a dedicated fan base and
high-energy atmosphere on game day.
Part of the Big 10 Conference, the
Minnesota Gophers compete in football,
basketball, hockey, wrestling and many
other NCAA sports. Catch home games
on the University of Minnesota campus,
accessible via the light rail that runs
between Minneapolis and St. Paul.
Other teams to watch include the St.
Croix Baseball Club, who plays in vintage
uniforms using 1860s rules, and the
Minnesota RollerGirls roller derby team
at Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul.
